Consultants
Mr James Fountain
Consultant Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgeon
Appointed as a Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic surgeon at University Hospitals Aintree I qualified from Sheffield Medical School in 2000.
After gaining surgical membership in 2004 I trained in orthopaedics throughout the North West of England before achieving the Fellowship in Trauma and Orthopaedics, FRCS (Tr & Orth) in 2010. My training was completed with the internationally renowned Cavendish Hip Fellowship gaining extensive experience in complex primary and revision hip and knee surgery.
I have published widely on orthopaedics and written book chapters on my chosen subspecialty. I have presented at many national and international meetings and been invited to lecture at hip and knee arthroplasty meetings. I have represented my colleagues nationally on a number of committees including the British Orthopaedic Association. Training junior surgeons is important to me and I teach regularly on a Royal College of Surgeons course as well as courses on orthopaedic infection and complex hip and knee surgery.
