Anxiety

Anxiety is a hugely common disorder and familiar to most people in this country and is a normal and effective reaction in times of increased stress.

These times are often short lived however there are occasions where personal or work lives may be affected by on going periods of severe worry.

If this is the situation it is important to seek professional help as early as possible as you may be suffering from severe anxiety disorder.

At The Sefton Suite we have consultants who are experienced in this area and specialise in dealing with individual disorders. We recognise that each patient will have different reasons for their problems.

Anxiety can quite easily lead to severe levels of discomfort and can be destructive toward the patient. The disorder is often underestimated and it is sometimes the case where the patient is the only person who can understand the symptoms.

Areas of anxiety disorders include:

  • Obsessive compulsive disorder causing unwanted thoughts and behaviours often relating to contamination or harm.

  • General anxiety disorder which incorporates constant worry, inability to relax and general feelings of distress.

  • Panic disorder chatarcterised by repeated times of sever anxiety which can often culminate in hospital visits due to the physical symptoms

  • Post traumatic stress disorder which can occur after a serious past event including car accidents, military duty and childbirth.

Please do discuss your concerns with your specialist on your initial consultation and they will be happy to discuss all the options available.

If you are paying for your own treatment all costs will be discussed and explained prior to any treatment taking place. This will be confirmed in writing along with any surgeon fees, anaesthetist fees and hospital charges prior to admission.
