Arthritis Treatment
There are two main areas of arthritis, osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis, both concerned with the painful conditions associated with the joints and bones in the human body.
Osteoarthritis is the most common form of
arthritis. Osteoarthritis is caused when the cartilage between the bones gradually degenerates leading to painful rubbing of bone on bone in the centre of the joints. In serious cases it may lead to the joints falling out of place causing further pain. Patients will find that the most affected joints are in the hands, knees, hips and spine.
Rheumatoid arthritis is a more severe, but less common condition, occurring when the immune system within the body destroys the joints, causing severe pain and swelling leading to the reduction of movement in the area of the body.
Our consultants at The Sefton Suite will be happy to discuss your concerns and talk you through the procedures available.
