Bio-Chemistry

Bio chemistry, when it is referred to alongside pathology, is the part of blood science that collects and analyses samples for most routine blood tests.

Most procedures will take a short amount of time with the patient able to leave the hospital almost straight away.

Small samples are taken from yourself and tested for the following, amongst others:

• Thyroid hormones
• iron
• glucose
• cholesterol 

Samples are sent to the analysis laboratories and will usually be back with your consultant within a couple of days, at which point an appointment will be made to discuss the findings.
