Cervical Smear
Cervical cancer is an extremely common cancer amongst women in the UK under the age of 35 with most cervical cancers being caused by HPV (Human Papilloma Virus).
Symptoms will include:
-
bleeding during or after intercourse
-
bleeding between periods
-
unpleasant vaginal discharge
-
pain or discomfort during intercourse
This particular cancer is one that is preventable as any pre cancerous cell changes can be picked up in smear tests with any abnormal cells being removed.
In the UK it is advised to have a smear test every three years with many women choosing to take the test on a more regular yearly basis.
