Coil Removal
Our consultant gynaecologists regularly perform the removal of coils.
The coil, a form of contraceptive for a woman, and designed like a small, plastic T shaped device slowly releases progesterone which prevents pregnancy and also makes periods lighter.
The removal of the coil performed at The Sefton Suite will in many cases be easier and less painful than the initial insertion.
A coil can be removed at anytime during the menstrual cycle. However, studies has shown that it may be a little easier to remove a coil during menstruation because the cervix is naturally softened at that time.
Please do discuss any questions you may have with your consultant prior to the procedure.
