Colorectal
Colorectal surgery is the area of medicine that refers directly to the treatments and procedures relating to the colon, rectum, anus and pelvic floor. Issues within these areas may relate to cancer, inflammatory bowel disease and diverticulitis.
Our consultants also offer more minimally invasive alternatives to surgery using our endoscopy and colonoscopy facilities.
Colorectal surgery is an essential treatment for colorectal cancer, Crohn's disease, some cases of diverticulitis and ulcerative colitis. Other bowel conditions that may require surgery include heamorrhoids, anal tears in the lining of the anus, rectal prolapses and bowel incontinence.
The repair of anal tears, tightening of sphincter muscles and blockage removal are all procedures our consultants are experienced in and with many patients the relief is immediate with many never having to return to hospital again for the problem.
At the Sefton Suite we have a range of consultants who deal specifically with this area and we ask that should you have any questions relating to this branch of medicine and the symptoms you are experiencing you arrange an appointment and speak with our consultants directly.
