Endo-Crinology

Endocrinology is an area of medicine dealing with the diagnosis and treatment of conditions relating to hormones. In its simplest form a hormone is a chemical messenger from one cell to another and are released into the body where they have an effect on other parts of the human body. 

For example the adrenal glands may secrete adrenalin which in turn would have an effect on other organs within the human body. An endocrine gland is one that secretes hormones.

Endocrinology covers human functions such as metabolism, reproduction, respiration and movement whilst also focusing on the tissues that secrete hormones. 

Problems with hormones and the way they work also contribute to some of the major diseases found in the human body such as diabetes, some sexual problems, some neurological problems, obesity, issues with the bones, cancer and thyroid conditions.
