Gastroenterology

Gastroenterology is the area of medicine which deals directly with the stomach, colon and rectum, pancreas, gall bladder, bile ducts and liver.

Our gastroenterologists co-ordinate the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of conditions affecting the gastrointestinal tract. Whilst having a high level of experience in the medical side of the speciality, our consultants must also have a detailed understanding of the normal physiology of all the above mentioned organs, as well as mobility through the intestines and gastrointestinal tract in order to maintain a healthy digestion, absorption of nutrients,  removal of waste and metabolic processes.

Our consultants have a wide knowledge and are experienced in dealing with issues such as gastric cancers, pancreatic cancers, colon and bowel cancers and hepatitis amongst others.
