Nasal Endoscopy
A nasal endoscopy allows your consultant to see first hand any issues within the nasal passages. By using an endoscopy (fibre optic flexible tube used to view into small spaces within the body) your consultant slowly inserts the tube into the naval cavity where they will look for areas of swelling, the presence of secretions draining from the sinus openings, for the presence of polyps and for any general abnormality.
This procedure is used for both problems with the nasal passages and also problems with the sinuses.
Before nasal endoscopy the team will spray the nose with a decongestant and an anaesthetic to reduce the swelling and widen the area whilst stopping the patient from sneezing or discomfort. The procedure is not painful and you will be allowed to return home on the same day as the procedure.
Please do discuss any questions you may have with your consultant prior to the procedure.
This procedure will normally be covered by the medical insurance policy but patients are advised to check with the provider prior to any treatment.
If you are paying for your own treatment all costs will be discussed and explained prior to any treatment taking place. This will be confirmed in writing along with any surgeon fees, anaesthetist fees and hospital charges prior to admission.
