Scar Revision

Scars can often be unsightly or embarrassing. Dependant on where exactly on the body they are, scars can often lead to an affected quality of life and self confidence issues. 

At The Sefton Suite there are a number of treatments available to help solve the problem. Which treatment is selected is dependant on the size and location of the scar. 

At the hospital we will also take into consideration why exactly you would like the scar removing, whether it be for cosmetic reasons or whether it is actually causing a physical problem. 

There are two major procedures we use and they are:

Laser skin resurfacing - the use of a medical laser to remove the very top layer of skin to allow the skin below to continue to grow healthier.

Surgical scar excision - this procedure is used to reduce or reposition the scar by expertly re stitching the scar,changing its angle to run in line with a natural crease or using a skin graft to cover the area.

It is important to discuss the reasons behind wanting surgery at your earliest opportunity. Our consultants will be happy to discuss any questions and advise on the best route forward. 

If you are paying for your own treatment all costs will be discussed and explained prior to any treatment taking place. This will be confirmed in writing along with any surgeon fees, anaesthetist fees and hospital charges prior to admission.
