Septorhinoplasty
Septorhinoplasty is a procedure which combines rhinoplasty and septoplasty and is a procedure to straighten the cartilage and bone in the septum at the same time as improving the airflow into the nasal cavities.
As well as creating more effective airways the procedure can also correct any cosmetic abnormalities of the nose.
The procedure takes around two hours and is performed under general anaesthetic with incisions being made to the outside and inside of the nose through which the consultant can remove the excess cartilage and bone.
Patients can expect swelling inside the nose for several weeks following treatment, however breathing difficulties should be overcome within two to three weeks. Patients can usually return to work earlier, typically within one to two weeks.
Please do discuss any questions you may have with your consultant prior to the procedure.
If you are paying for your own treatment all costs will be discussed and explained prior to any treatment taking place. This will be confirmed in writing along with any surgeon fees, anaesthetist fees and hospital charges prior to admission.
