tooth decay

gum disease
-
abscess
-
broken tooth
-
impacted wisdom teeth
The removal of teeth is a very common operation in the UK and our consultants are highly experienced in this area using all of the most up to date techniques and newest technology.
Usually performed under a local anaesthetic the procedure will not last long and will require your surgeon to gently rock the tooth from side to side being careful not to cause any undue trauma to the surrounding teeth and gums. The procedure will only take a few minutes in most cases and no pain will be felt.
There will be a small amount of bleeding in the mouth following the operation which will not last long, you will be given a soft pad to bite on to stop the bleeding.
It will take several hours for the feeling to return to the mouth and after that if pain is experienced refer to over the counter painkillers or antibiotics which will have been given to you by your consultant.
Any swelling and pain will begin to disappear and normal activity to be returned to as soon as possible.
If you are paying for your own treatment all costs will be discussed and explained prior to any treatment taking place. This will be confirmed in writing along with any surgeon fees, anaesthetist fees and hospital charges prior to admission.
