Thyroid Test
The thyroid is a gland that is found at the bottom of the neck. The gland releases two types of hormone, T3 and T4. These hormones travel in the blood to all parts of the body.
The hormones control many activities in the body including how fast the heart beats and how many calories are burnt during periods of rest and exercise.
A healthy thyroid will mean the body will work at just the correct metabolic rate, not too fast and not too slow.
There are a number of issues that relate to the thyroid gland including cancer and disorders that can affect the immune system.
Once our consultants have reviewed the reports from the test they will be able to advise further of any required further action. The hospital has specialists in all areas should any problems arise from the test.
It is important to discuss any questions you may have with your consultant at this time.
This procedure may not be covered by the medical insurance policy and patients are advised to check with the provider prior to any treatment.
If you are paying for your own treatment all costs will be discussed and explained prior to any treatment taking place. This will be confirmed in writing along with any surgeon fees, anaesthetist fees and hospital charges prior to admission.
